Clarence the Candymaker and the Never Ceasing Fun-o-Rama Candy Clarence the Candymaker rubbed his hands gleefully as he poured his cans of who-knows-what in a who-knows-how manner. This he knew would be a Valentine's Day nobody would forget. As soon as the old man's creased hands wrapped around the couple pieces of candy, he knew this would be the biggest hit of all time and he knew that laughter would fill the streets once more like they did 1,274 years ago (and yes, he is really that old). Jamie slumped home. All everybody wanted to talk about was the ridiculous candy that was coming out today. The ad said it was made by "Clarence the Candymaker himself". Who is this guy anyway? It was probably one of those scams and was really made by some factory in abig city like New York or something. But right now in Henry, Kansas, there is nothing for miles and miles around except a few corn fields, wheat fields and dirt roads. "I don't even like candy anyway," said Jamie. When Jamie came home, he rung the door bell. He heard hysterical laughter, but no answer. He rung again - hysterical laughter, but no answer. This time, Jamie heard laughter from two or three people. He looked through the peephole and asked very politely, "He-he-hello,"as a purple eye stared back at him. He immediately recoiled and they laughed again. Jamie went to the police station for help and two cops came with him. When they realized how serious the situation was, they went and called the other officers that weren't hysterically laughing. They found out with the help of a CSI detective that old man Clarence was behind this. They went to his factory and made him a deal. If he could make an antidote in one day, they would not take him to jail. If he couldn't, they would take him to jail. In four hours, Clarence came up with an antidote and once he finished, he gave it to them, but they took him to jail anyway. The police officers restored everyone back to heath and all was well. Most of them lived happily ever after. One year later... Clarence was in his jail cell thinking about how he could get out of this place, when he remembered he had a candy cane in his pocket. He pulled it out and decided he could try to pick the lock with it. After hours of doing this, success finally loomed over the lock and opened it. The door creaked open. Clarence the Candymaker rubbed him hands gleefully. This he knew would be a Valentine's Day nobody would forget. The pros and cons of having new ways to communicate
Nobody likes to hear the bad news first so lets start off with the pros.
It creates more practical ways of sending messages to other people
It is easier to type something
It is faster to type than write, if you use the proper way to type (Home-row)
Really there is nothing wrong except one HUGE problem.... people are starting to use bad grammar left and right! Some people with busy jobs
actually might need to abbreviate things instead of typing to whole word out or something; Example: im going to be late 4 work bye. But, the thing is that people are doing this for unnecessary things; Example: hey yowl i need to do stuf!!!!!!!!! sea u later by. See were I'm getting at?
I think this is the only con about this matter. Auto-correction, its all right but I can't see anyone depending on it. I just hope the non-busy people would just stop and think, could I just type just a few more letters to help myself improve on my grammar.
I wish I could learn Spanish because spanish it is always really useful to know a popular second language. I would choose Spanish because a lot of countries speak it. Some of the countries are:
1. Bolivia
2. Colombia 3. Costa Rica 4. Cuba 5. Ecuador 6. El Salvador 7. Equatorial Guinea (with French) 8. Guatemala 9. Honduras 10. Panama 11. Paraguay 12. Peru 13. Spain 14. Venezuela
15. Porto Rico
As well as Spanish, I would also like to learn French because it is very similar, Russian, German, Polish (because that is were my main ancestry comes from) Latin, and Greek. I'm sure I will not learn all of these but I would like to try; world languages is one of my favourite subjects!
For my New Year's resolution I would like to work on my confidence level. Since most things come very easily to me, the things that don't are very hard for me and then I get discouraged. I would like to work on this by telling myself I can do it instead of telling myself this isimpossible there is no way I can do this! I will try to try new things and branch out of my comfort zone. I do hope that 2013 brings new changes and hopefully good ones.

Dear Dad,
You are special to me because you have taught me how to do numerous things. You have taught me how to kayak which is still pretty new to me. You taught me how to ride my bike. I love when we go on a 10-12 mile bike ride almost every weekend. The only time we don't go on bike rides is when we are out-of-town or very busy in-town. I enjoy Boy Scouts and you've helped with tons of those things too. I really appreciate how you always bring me to camping trips the Boy Scouts supply. I love you because you've taught me things and I think you love me because I listen.
Always yours,
Max
Mandatory Wiki: Due October 19 Directions: Choose one of the prompts below and write a paragraph for your response. Be sure to revise your response for word choice and edit for spelling and grammar. 1. What would you do if you were Dr. Ebeling for a day? (Be sure your actions are reasonable.) OR 2. If you could change places with anyone, who would it be and why? OR 3. Write a paragraph about bullying. Be sure to define this term in your own words. Consider the following questions/statements when responding to this prompt. Describe a time when you felt bullied. Explain what happened and how you felt. Have there been times when you've witnessed other people getting bullied and done nothing (or something)? How did this make you feel? What can bullying look like in fifth grade at Summit School?
Bullying. In my opinion, bullying is one of the cruelest things you can have done to you. I can say this because I have gotten bullied both physically and mentally at a different school. It felt awful, but he was older than me and there was nothing I could do about it. Finally, I told the principal and she put an end to it. The definition of bullying is that you do something to someone that is purposeful that you know they don't like. I've never figured out why people bully other people, but I don't think I'll ever figure it out because I can't imagine doing it to somebody else. I don't think I have ever seen any real bullying at Summit in the fifth grade, I can see people teasing each other a little, but I don't think there is any serious bullying.

October 2, 2012: OPTIONAL WIKI ASSIGNMENT Due to popular demand, this is an optional wiki writing assignment that will be due by Friday, October 5, 2012. (Actually, I will read them on Monday, October 8, so if you need the weekend to complete it, go ahead!) Take a shot at the prompt below. Try to include your response to each of the questions for the most thorough entry. PROMPT: The 2012 election is quickly approaching! What are the most important characteristics a United States presidential candidate should have? If you were running for president, what attributes do you possess that would make you the best choice for president? What are the most important issues in this election, and what is your stand on them?
The most important characteristics our leader of our country should have is....the power to lead our country (obviously)....to make the right decisions that will help our country progress...to not be mean to the citizens...to manage our money well...to not raise taxes for the citizens.
Some attributes that I possess are...not being mean to citizens...managing money well...not raising taxes for citizens.
One of the most important issues is that one of the candidates wants to raise taxes for the poor, middle class and upper class and cut the taxes on the millionaires and billionaires. My stand on it is, "That's not fair! Why should the millionaires and billionaires have to pay less than everybody else does!?". One of the candidates wants to ship tons of jobs to China! My stand on this is, "Why should we have to live without jobs while another country gets more!?". One of the candidates is going to cut taxes that fund PBS and Sesame Street. My stand on this is that little kids love Sesame Street, so why would you obliterate that show without personal gain?
